Stephnie Menke is the Potter County District Clerk, proudly serving the citizens of Potter County with integrity, experience, and a strong commitment to public service. Appointed to the position in 2021 and elected by voters in 2022, Stephnie is once again seeking the opportunity to continue serving as your District Clerk.
Born and raised in Friona, Texas, Stephnie moved to Amarillo after graduating high school in 1979 and has called Potter County home for more than 34 years. She is married to her husband, Michael, a lifelong farmer west of Amarillo between Bushland and Vega. Together, they have raised four children who reflect the family’s deep roots in service, education, engineering, and agriculture. Stephnie and Michael are also blessed with ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Stephnie was raised in a family grounded in strong Christian values, principles she continues to live by today. She is a conservative with a strong work ethic and a lifelong dedication to community involvement. Over the years, she has supported and led numerous local initiatives benefiting families and children, including Snack Pak for Kids, Teacher Appreciation programs, Angel Tree, and Life Challenge. She has been an active member of her church for more than 34 years and is involved in the Golden Spread Emmaus Community.
With more than 24 years of service to Potter County—over 20 years in the Potter County Clerk’s Office and five years as District Clerk—Stephnie brings extensive knowledge, proven leadership, and a deep understanding of the judicial system. She was unanimously appointed District Clerk in 2021 by all five Potter County District Judges to complete the unexpired term and later elected by county voters to continue in the role.
As District Clerk, Stephnie oversees the filing and maintenance of records for felony cases, civil lawsuits, family law matters including divorces, adoptions, and CPS cases, as well as jury management for Potter County. Her office maintains court records for 13 judges across District Courts, County Courts at Law, CPS Courts, and Justice of the Peace Courts, working closely with attorneys and citizens throughout the county.
Stephnie manages a staff of 19 employees and an annual budget of approximately $760,000. She has successfully led major technology initiatives to improve efficiency, accuracy, and public access, including the implementation of the county’s case management system and ongoing upgrades to the jury system.
Professionally, Stephnie serves in leadership roles within the County and District Clerk’s Association, including service on the Board of Directors, as Region I Director, and as Director in Charge. She has co-led the Potter County Employee Appreciation Committee for 15 years, serves on the Potter County Technology Committee, and remains active in civic organizations such as Amarillo Republican Women and High Plains Republican Women.
Stephnie believes in treating everyone with honesty, respect, and kindness. She is committed to transparency, professionalism, and dependable service.
